What causes shoulder pain?

Some of the potential injuries that causes pain in the shoulder might include soft tissue damage or overuse or underuse of the shoulder.

If you are experiencing pain in your shoulder, consultation with your physician is recommended. Any pain in your shoulder might be caused by joint or tissue damage, which might ultimately lead to larger, more painful injuries.

A few signs of a shoulder injury might include:

  • Shoulder stiffness and loss of normal movement
  • Loss of shoulder strength
  • Popping sounds or slipping feelings in your shoulder joint

Additionally, pain in your shoulder might be caused by osteoarthritis (OA), though it is rare.

Your Shoulder Pain Treatment Options

Depending on the results of an orthopedic evaluation, your physician might recommend one of the following to relieve pain in your shoulder:

  • Medication
  • Physical Therapy
  • Total Shoulder Replacement Surgery
